Kira K Homsher earned her MFA in Fiction at Virginia Tech, where she taught creative writing and composition. Currently, she is an Assistant Fiction Editor for X-R-A-Y. She previously served as Audience Editor for Longreads and The Atavist, Editorial Assistant for The Believer, Features Editor for Carve Magazine, Managing Editor for The New River, and Fiction Editor for the minnesota review. She graduated from Temple University in 2018 with degrees in English and Film, and has lived and studied in many cities, including Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Seattle, London, Tokyo, and (currently) Los Angeles.

Her work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, Best Small Fictions, and the Shirley Jackson Awards, and she was a finalist in contests held by Kenyon Review, American Short Fiction, Shenandoah, and CRAFT. Her writing appears or is forthcoming in Kenyon Review Online, Indiana Review, Passages North, Longreads, DIAGRAM, Barrelhouse, The Normal School, and others. She is the recipient of a Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts residency. She is working on a novel and a story collection, and is represented by Rebecca Gradinger at United Talent Agency.
